Video
Production
We decided on the idea that we were going
to use the modular Origami model to convey our message through a mixed media
format of using both physical items as well as post production software to add
in flavor to the video.
In this post, we would like to share with
you our journey in first, constructing a prototype model and following that,
move on to shooting the video.
#1: Preparation of the papers that were
needed to form the pieces.
[We couldn’t use normal squared origami papers
as the dimensions of the modular pieces were supposed to be rectangular in
shape as shown in the above picture]
We had to fold and cut up each of the A4
papers. Having each A4 giving us 32 individual modular pieces that we needed
for the model.
#2: When we were done with the cutting
process, it was time to start folding each piece. [Note: These were not all of
the pieces of paper that we had cut up]
#3: Piece after piece, stacking them up as
we complete each piece.
#4: With the few pieces we’ve folded, we
tested the base structure and constructed a mini prototype.
#5: With the pieces folded, we proceeded to
setup the cameras for the shoot. Laying down the base layer with white paper.
#6: We then proceeded to do a few test
shots before going into producing the stop motion.
#7: Piece by piece we laid it down onto our
scene. With each piece, we took a photo.
#8: In using this method, we had a lot of
difficulty placing each piece, as they would often act like dominoes and causing
each other to fall.
#9: So in trying to solve the problem, we
decided to do the stop motion the other way around. Doing it from the back,
de-constructing it from its completed
#10: Having constructed the ‘cats’ we
worked our way back. Taking each piece off one by one, and taking a picture
each.
